"What's the Big Deal About Humility?"
What is humility? What is not humility? Why humility? How does humility fit into our lives? |
About Our Worship
Worship that is Christ centered and that allows room for the working of the Holy Spirit
inspires us to be more faithful,
raises the important questions of faith,
gives us the opportunity to sing God’s praises,
and invites us to share our joys and concerns with the community in prayer.
We worship together each Sunday morning at 11:00 AM. We do not have an extremely formal pattern for worship, but we do pay attention to the seasons of the church year.
We are fortunate to have fine musicians in our congregation and have a great love of singing together. Sometimes we even give the a cappella singing of our tradition a try on some hymns.
Times of reflective silence, also a part of our heritage, allow us to center on the Divine and consider the direction of our lives.
We pause during each worship service to share together as the family of faith our joys and concerns. We pray for one another, for situations in our lives that are blessings and challenges as well as for people and events around the world.
Worship leaders from our congregation add diversity to the worship. Each service tends to follow a particular theme and lasts about one hour. Pastors Becky and Harry sermons focus on contemporary, inclusive theology as it might be lived out in today’s world. In reading scripture, generally the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible is used and occasionally “The Message” by Eugene Peterson.
Children are a joy to us, and we welcome them in worship, as well as offer a nursery for those who are at an age where that is their choice environment. We believe that as adults, “it takes a whole church to raise a child.” We take seriously our role as Christian models to children.
On a regular basis we have pot luck lunches following worship, or as a group, some go to a local restaurant for lunch.
Worship is an important part of our life together, so please join us in the circle of God’s love!
